I'm not really sure where to start except that this was an
absolutely phabulous experience. Charlotte and I have been on
cruises before and have enjoyed them, but the Parrothead Cruise
surpassed that in almost every way.
Two of our club members had been on previous Parrothead cruises
and always talked about the great experience. I thought it would
be a great way for my wife and I to get away following my year
in Iraq, so I called and made the reservation as soon as it
came open to the general Parrot Head population. I am definitely
glad I did, because it sold out in less than a day!!
The cruise kicked off with a great Bon Voyage party. The entertainment
was first class with great music from James "Sunny Jim"
White and John Frinzi accompanied by Charlie De Cosa. We even
had some of our cruise entertainers join in for a couple of
songs. It was a great way to get us "ready" for a
week of non stop fun!
If I tried to go into everything that was great on this cruise,
you would be reading for hours. Whether it was the pub crawl,
the pool invasion, the great entertainers, the Fete at the Frog
party, the virgin olympics or the toenails, it was all a blast.
The cruise excursions were fun, but by far, the time on the
boat with all the great parrot heads was even better. A new
tradition was started this year, as always one to raise money
for our charity, and that was the Pink Out where we all wore
pink shirts to dinner one night. It was a sea of pink and definitely
caught the attention of the other cruisers.
Other than the new phriendships we made, and the tremendous
amount of money we raised for breast cancer research, the Songwriters'
Showcase was phenomenal!
The team that worked on the Parrot Head Cruise put on a great
experience that I will continue to tell everyone about. If they
do even half as good as they did last year, this will be an
experience NOT TO BE MISSED!!! I know we won't miss it!!! Parrothead
Cruise 2010 here we come . . .
