Tropicool featuring John Patti and James "Sunny Jim" White

John Patti is a distinguished musician renowned for his exceptional skill and innovative approach to the steel pan. Hailing from Baltimore, Maryland, Patti began his musical journey at an early age, quickly gravitating towards percussion and ultimately dedicating himself to mastering the steel pan. He has earned widespread recognition for elevating the instrument beyond its traditional Caribbean context, seamlessly blending its expressive, smooth sound with diverse genres including rock, jazz, blues, country, funk, and even classical music. Whether performing solo or collaborating with other artists, Patti's captivating stage presence and unique musical interpretations have resonated with audiences across the globe.  Click here to learn more about one of the hardest working men in Trop Rock.

Sunny Jim is no stranger to the Parrothead Cruise or to Trop Rock music lovers as one of the all-time greats with an enduring and enthusiastic fan base coast-to-coast.  Jim's live performances call up sea breezes, palm trees, sandy beaches, and good tropical vibes. Audiences often end up dancing in conga lines and moving to the up-tempo rhythms of his original music, a blend of influences that range from the Caribbean to California, by way of Texas. Jim was born in San Antonio, raised in California, and then spent 12 years in the Cayman Islands. In the Caribbean he perfected his solo show featuring guitar, vocals, and steel pan infusing his songwriting with the influences of Caribbean masters. While in Grand Cayman he picked up the nickname “Sunny Jim.”  Jim has published a dozen CDs and has won countless awards for his original music and performances including a Lifetime Achievement award from the TRMA.  Check out Sunny Jim Music here.

Kirstie Kraus

Kirstie Kraus began performing on stages at age five, songwriting when she was eight, and loves collaborating. She will be releasing her seventh duet single on July 11, 2025 and has co-written songs with many of her Trop Rock family since her first MOTM in 2021.  Kirstie is a member of the CMA, ACM, Music City Phins, and WMBA (Women Music Business Association).  She also serves as a host for The Heartland Network which led to her most recently hosting a stage for Nashville’s coveted CMA Fest.

Kirstie
is fresh off her duet release "Largo" with trop rock superstar Mike Nash that is climbing the Trop Rock Charts and already rendered a #1 hit for the month of May 2025 on Radio Trop Rock! Kirstie accepted the "Artist of the Year - Country" award on the Grand Ole Opry stage for the Josie Music Awards and the Radio Trop Rock Song of the Year for her duet with Mark Mulch "Tide Down" in October 2024. Club Trini

Parrothead Cruise 2026 is extraordinarily proud to host the reunion of the legendary Club Trini!

Club Trini is a dynamic musical ensemble primarily known for its vibrant blend of Caribbean and instrumental music, particularly drawing from calypso and soca traditions. The band is a collaborative project that grew out of the shared musical chemistry between Robert Greenidge, a renowned steel pan player from Trinidad, and Michael Utley, an accomplished keyboardist. Both Greenidge and Utley were long-time, integral members of Jimmy Buffett's Coral Reefer Band.  Now the next generation of "Mr. Utley", Mike's son Mick Utley - an accomplished musician, songwriter, and producer in his own right - has joined the Coral Reefer Band and also a place beside Robert in Club Trini.  Rounding out the band with her extraordinary vocals is fellow Coral Reefer Nadirah Shakoor.

Club Trini allows these talented artists an opportunity to explore and showcase their passion for tropical rhythms and melodies.  The band's sound is characterized by the prominent and soulful steel pan, which takes center stage, often weaving intricate instrumental narratives. While primarily instrumental, their albums also feature soaring and heartfelt vocals, adding another layer to their diverse sound. Club Trini's music evokes a laid-back, sun-drenched atmosphere, yet often carries a high-energy quality. Their discography includes the albums "Club Trini," "Back in Town," and "Late Night Live," which captured their spirited performances.

Robert Greenidge

Robert Greenidge is probably the most successful steelpan player in the world. Robert grew up in the heart of the Caribbean on the island of Trinidad. He has been a core member of Jimmy Buffett's Coral Reefer Band for decades, bringing the Caribbean to Jimmy’s Gulf+Western sound.  Outside of Trop Rock, Robert is a long-time musical director of the legendary Desperadoes Steel Orchestra with whom he returns home to Trinidad each year to play in the Carnival celebrations. You can learn more about Robert here.

Mick Utley

Mick Utley is a highly accomplished musician known for his diverse talents as a writer, producer, composer, and keyboardist. Hailing from Los Angeles, he honed his skills studying jazz at the University of Miami where he developed a passion for crafting original music and performing. His extensive career has seen him contribute to numerous projects including his own band Floating Collective, formed with Brendan Mayer and Erin McAnally, as well as performing as a touring member of the Coral Reefer Band.  Beyond his solo work and collaborations Mick is also indelibly associated with Club Trini, originally founded by Robert and Mick's father Mike Utley.

Nadirah Shakoor

Most of us know Nadirah Shakoor as the lead female vocalist in the Coral Reefer Band for going on thirty years. Did you know that in addition to the CRB, Nadirah was the featured vocalist in the Grammy-nominated group Arrested Development, or that she toured or recorded with a who’s-who of popular music including Janet Jackson, Madonna, Quincy Jones, Paula Abdul, and Al Jarreau?  In addition to her collaborations, Nadirah has also released four solo albums: "Soul Power”, "NadirahSongs", "Obsessed with Peace, Vol. 1", and "Nod to the Storyteller" her tribute to Jimmy Buffett.
